Blue Sea Restaurant
How a seafood restaurant in Afitos, Halkidiki went from page 3+ on Google to the #1 position, increasing bookings by 200% in just 4 months.
The Client
Blue Sea Restaurant is a family-owned seafood restaurant in Afitos, Halkidiki, with over 15 years of operation. It offers fresh seafood and traditional Greek flavors at a seaside location, serving both Greek and foreign tourists during the summer season.
Despite the excellent food quality and positive customer reviews, the restaurant had minimal online presence — its website did not appear on Google for any relevant keyword, and the Google Business Profile had not been updated in years.

The Challenge
When we took on the project in March 2025, the situation was as follows:
Competition in the area was intense — over 40 restaurants in Afitos and the surrounding Kassandra, many of which already had optimized GBP profiles and strong presence on TripAdvisor. The client needed results before the tourist season started in June.
Our Strategy
We designed a 4-month action plan in 3 phases, combining Local SEO and on-page SEO targeting quick results before the season:
Phase 1 — Month 1-2: Technical & Local Foundation
- Google Business Profile optimization: Updated hours, photos (32 new interior/exterior and dish photos), categories, attributes (outdoor seating, wheelchair accessible, etc.)
- NAP consistency audit: Unified Name/Address/Phone across 22 online directories (TripAdvisor, Vrisko, XO, 11888, Booking, etc.)
- On-page SEO: Optimized 8 pages — title tags, meta descriptions, heading hierarchy, internal linking. Created dedicated pages for menu and reservations.
- Technical fixes: Mobile optimization, page speed (from 42 → 89 Lighthouse score), schema markup (LocalBusiness + Restaurant + Menu)
- Keyword mapping: 35 keywords in 3 clusters — brand terms, location terms (Afitos, Kassandra, Halkidiki), food terms (seafood, fish, thalassina, psarotaverna)
Phase 2 — Month 2-3: Content & Reviews
- Content creation: 4 blog posts about seafood, local gastronomy and Afitos — targeting long-tail keywords ("where to eat in Afitos", "best restaurants Kassandra")
- Review generation strategy: Created QR codes on every table linking directly to Google Reviews. Staff training for polite reminders to satisfied customers.
- Photography refresh: Professional food photography session — 18 dishes photographed in natural light, uploaded to GBP, website and social media.
- Local link building: Created 12 backlinks from local directories, travel blogs, and Halkidiki tourism guides.
Phase 3 — Month 3-4: Optimization & Scale
- GBP Posts: Weekly posts on Google Business Profile — new dishes, events, seasonal menu updates
- Rank tracking & optimization: Tracking 35 keywords on a weekly basis, fine-tuning pages ranked in positions 4-10
- Multilingual optimization: Created English versions of key pages for foreign tourists searching "seafood restaurant" + location
- Social proof amplification: Integrated Google Reviews widget on the website, showcased reviews on Instagram
Results after 4 months
The results exceeded expectations. By the 2nd month, the website started appearing on the 1st page of Google, and by the 4th month it had conquered the #1 position for the main keywords:
Before vs After
